"I collaborated with Sheryl Rosenberg in planning a “Night in the Roaring 2020s” themed event... Sheryl is FULL of ideas on how to creatively use resources and bring a concept to life. She is very detail-oriented, preparing for all of the unexpected things that might pop up during the event. The challenge was to transform one of the oldest school buildings in the county into a breathtaking experience. She created chandeliers to hang throughout the lobby entrance where a Jazz band would welcome guests. Using lighting and fabric backdrops, the hallways lined with old lockers would be transformed into a magical space. Then the event was to be held in four or five rooms in the building. The “lounge” would have old movies playing, and have a mellow relaxing vibe. The “candy bar” would be like an old candy store with all kinds of sweet treats. The “game room” would have casino-style games and prizes available, with parents volunteering as game supervisors and card dealers. There would also be a room with party-rental inflatable activities like an obstacle course, laser tag, etc. Sheryl even thought about the needs of those who might be overwhelmed by all the noise and activity. There would be a quiet room for coloring, resting, and just stepping away from it all for a few minutes. Through her connections within the community, she arranged for a comedic hypnotist, a henna tattooist, a tarot card reader, a caricaturist, lounge singers, and a palm reader. But, after months of planning and preparing props and decorations the event had to be canceled just a few short weeks before it was set to occur. However, not to be discouraged, Sheryl planned and designed graduation picture backdrops for the graduating seniors. All of the students came in their graduation attire to have pictures taken in front of a black and gold themed balloon arch to be used for the virtual graduation ceremony. The students were excited to come and have a little time to say goodbye to their senior year!"
